Japan's new bullet train type N700 goes into service

The Type N700 is a new bullet train jointly developed by Central Japan Railway Co. (JR Tokai) and West Japan Railway Co. The train made its debut on the Tokaido Shinkansen and Sanyo Shinkansen lines this Sunday. The train will travel between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka stations in two hours and 25 minutes shaving off five minutes than before. It will speed between Tokyo and Hakata in four hours and 50 minutes, saving about 10 minutes.Revamped after eight years since the original Type 700 was introduced in 1999, the overhauling cost $2.1 billion. Type N700 that can go 185 MPH, JR officials are flaunting it as the fastest bullet train ever.
